Peter S. Prichard

Peter S. Prichard is Chair of the Newseum, the Washington, D.C. museum devoted to news and First Amendment freedoms that that has attracted more than six million visitors since opening in 2008. Before joining the Newseum, he was editor of USA TODAY from 1988 to 1995, when that newspaper passed the 2 million circulation mark to become the nation’s most widely-read newspaper. He is also the author of The Making of McPaper: The Inside Story of USA TODAY, which sold 28,000 copies in hardcover and was named one of the best journalism books of 1988. A native of California, Mr. Prichard is a 1966 graduate of Dartmouth College and served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army in 1968-69, where he was awarded the Bronze Star.
